Louie Flanders January 14, 1937 -- April 1, 2002 Louis Flanders, 65, Foley, Ala., formerly of Brainerd, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at the Foley Hospital in Foley, Ala. He was born Jan. 14, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles and Mabel (Neiter) Flanders. He graduated from Brainerd's Washington High School in 1955 and the University of Minnesota in 1960. He worked at Northwest Paper Co., in Brainerd and Cloquet. He did consulting engineering in Minneapolis and worked for Washington Group International in Birmingham, Ala., since 1987, retiring last year. Survivors include his wife, Debbie; five sons, Steve, Michael and John, all of Minneapolis, John Wipperman, Tennessee, and Jason Wipperman, Alabama; two daughters, Kathleen Flanders Hyslap and Sarah, both of Minneapolis; and six grandchildren. His parents, a sister and a brother died earlier. Services were in Foley, Ala. Arrangements were with Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley, Ala.
